Iconic brand RM Williams has joined the growing list of businesses participating in the mobile vaccination van program, as the Marshall Liberal Government continues to focus on making it as easy as possible for South Australians to get the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the mobile vaccination program is continuing to scale up with a focus on increasing vaccination rates in local government areas with a lower uptake and culturally and linguistically diverse community groups.

“South Australians are heeding the call to roll up and get vaccinated against COVID-19, with almost 80 percent of the population now having had their first dose of the lifesaving vaccine,” said Minister Wade.

“We not only want to reach our target of at least 80 percent of the population being fully vaccinated, we want to exceed it. The addition of this fleet of mobile vaccination vans is strengthening our outreach to reach pockets of the community with lower vaccination rates.

“It is not only critical that we drive up statewide vaccination rates, but that we ensure strong vaccination rates across geographical and cultural cohorts across the state. We are all in this together.

“It is great to see iconic companies such as RM Williams supporting the vaccination program. The support of businesses in getting the vaccine to staff will be critical in pushing vaccination rates even higher across the state.”

Other businesses involved in the mobile vaccination program include Thomas Foods, Drakes and Mitolo Farms, with upcoming visits also planned with sites such as Coles, Mayne Pharma and Bunnings.

Outreach programs have also reached groups such as the African Women’s Federation of SA, Islamic Society of SA and Australian Migrant Resource Centre.

The program scales up after the state’s first ‘Super Walk-in Weekend’, which saw thousands more doses delivered at the state’s vaccination clinics over the weekend.

“Since the start of the rollout, weekends have traditionally seen the lowest numbers of vaccinations doses delivered across the state. This weekend saw our mass vaccination clinics deliver more doses over the course of the weekend than ever before,” said Minister Wade.

“Across the state, we saw our highest Saturday on record with 14,214 doses delivered – that’s around 58 percent higher than the average Saturday since July.

“Crucially, this has placed our state on the verge of achieving an 80 percent first dose rate for those over 16 years of age, a significant milestone towards relaxing our borders.

“We’re now on the final stretch, and now is the time for all eligible South Australians who are yet to roll up their sleeve to get vaccinated and protect themselves, their loved ones and the community from COVID-19.”

The mobile vaccination vans are delivering vaccinations across metropolitan Adelaide, the Flinders and Upper North region, Limestone Coast, Yorke and Northern region, Barossa, Hills and Fleurieu region and Riverland Mallee Coorong region.

The rollout will be further boosted by clinics established at Kilkenny (this Friday) and Munno Para (Tuesday 2 November).

South Australians can book in for a vaccination at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidvaccine and walk-ins are available at multiple clinics.
