Two charged, licences suspended, and vehicle impounded after burnouts, NSW

Two teenagers have been charged with burnout offences following an investigation by Strike Force Puma.

About 9pm on Tuesday 3 March 2020, two teenagers allegedly conducted burnouts at Econo Place, Silverdale.

After videos were posted on social media, officers from Strike Force Puma commenced an investigation and identified the pair.

On Saturday (7 March 2020), officers spoke to a 19-year-old man at a Glenmore Park home and a 17-year-old male at a Jamisontown home.

Both were issued court attendance notices for committing a burnout and will appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 7 April 2020.

Their licences were also suspended, and the younger male had his vehicle impounded for three months.

Strike Force Puma was formed 2018 to target drivers with a history of licence offences and a repeated history of drink and drug driving offences, and drivers with extreme and erratic behaviours.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said strike force officers are continually monitoring social media sites to gather intelligence and monitor high-risk drivers and high-risk driving behaviour.

‘Strike Force Puma will continue targeting those drivers who insist on thinking the road rules did not apply to them.” Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said.
