Woman dies after being hit by ute – Clovelly

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s east yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Varna Street, Clovelly, about 5pm yesterday (Friday 31 March 2023), following reports a female pedestrian had been struck by a Toyota Hilux utility.

The 63-year-old woman was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance before she was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver – a 40-year-old man – was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, with the Crash Investigation Unit investigating.

Police have now been told the woman died in hospital a short time ago (Saturday 1 April 2023).
