Youth Minister Dave Kelly today announced that Amy Astill and Amber Ugle-Hayward will be the Youth Week WA Ambassadors for 2022.
Amy Astill is 20 years old and lives in Kalgoorlie. She is studying at the University of Western Australia and works as the Operations Coordinator at the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre. She is also a Youth Mentor for both the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Council and the Salvation Army Shed Project. In 2021 she was appointed as a member of the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC).
Amy has been volunteering with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder since 2016, and was elected as Youth Councillor that same year. In 2017 Amy was elected the Youth Mayor of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and in 2021 she was elected as a Councillor for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Amber Ugle-Hayward is 22 years old, and a Noongar woman who has lived in Perth and regional Western Australia. Amber is the first Aboriginal identifying young person to be appointed as a Youth Week WA Ambassador.
Amber has achieved a Certificate III in Government and Certificates I and II in Business and is an Administrative Coordinator with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
Amber is a 2020 graduate of the Western Australian Aboriginal Leadership Institute (WAALI) Emerging Aboriginal Leaders Program and has been the keynote speaker for ATCO National Reconciliation Week. She is also a Public Sector Commission Aboriginal Traineeship Program induction speaker regarding traineeship experience.
Youth Week Ambassadors will represent WA young people and play a key role on the team that plans the range of Youth Week WA activities in 2022, facilitated by Propel Youth Arts Inc.
Youth Week WA will run from April 8 to April 16, 2022.

“They provide opportunities for young people and their communities to organise events that raise the profile of the role of young people by showcasing their talents and creativity.
“Youth Week WA events also provide opportunities for young people to canvass their issues, ideas and concerns and explore possible solutions.
“Importantly, Youth Week WA will also encourage young people to engage with other community sectors including seniors, carers and volunteering.
“The Youth Week WA Ambassadors for 2022 will be an integral part of Youth Week, and I congratulate Amy Astill and Amber Ugle-Hayward on their appointments.
“Amy and Amber will be outstanding advocates for Youth Week 2022.”
