Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fail to stop crash which left a path of destruction at Gosford last night.
About 12.30am (Saturday 6 March 2021), emergency services were called to Victoria Street, East Gosford, following reports a car had crashed into a power pole.
Officers from Brisbane Water Police District Command attended and found a blue Ford Mustang had been travelling in an easterly direction on Victoria Street when it hit two power poles, before hitting a council garbage bin, which went through the front window of a shop, which then bounced off onto a parked Holden sedan, causing minor damage.
The driver of the Mustang left the scene prior to police arrival and it is unknown if the driver sustained any injuries during the crash.
The force of the crash has caused the power poles to be unstable and will have to be replaced as a matter of urgency.
Ausgrid have advised police the normally busy Victoria Street shopping centre will need to be isolated while the power poles are replaced. As a result, police have created traffic diversions at the intersection of the Central Coast Highway and Althorp Street, and the intersection of Central Coast Highway and Adelaide Street.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area while the road remains closed or seek alternative routes.
