The Orange Aquatic Centre will remain open next week, but the opportunities for swimming will change, in order to comply with the latest NSW Public Health Orders.
The indoor pool at the centre will remain open and learn-to-swim classes will be able to continue as normal following a change to the NSW Government’s regulations covering indoor pools announced yesterday.
Orange City Council CEO David Waddell said council would continue to comply with the NSW Governments Health Orders.
DOORS OPEN: The indoor pool at Orange Aquatic Centre will be open next week under changes to the public health orders relating to COVID-19.
“Our indoor pool does a fantastic job as a venue for young children to learn to swim. Currently we have lessons for more students than ever. 1600 are currently enrolled. It would have been disappointing to cancel these lessons and I’m pleased they can go ahead.”
Organised rehab classes and sessions for swimmers with a disability can also continue.
“Under the latest health orders, we’re not able to have recreational swimming. We’re limited to lap swimmers and squad training only. Our staff will be putting a system in place to manage those numbers,” Mr Waddell said.
“It’s unfortunate that there’s been some confusion as changes to the Public Health Orders were analysed and we thank the community for their patience.”
“If children miss learn-to-swim classes next week due to this confusion, we’ll be adding a credit to their next round of charges.”
