Australia Day Honours 2022

Victoria University is proud share the news that the hard-work and dedication of several alumni, friends, supporters and staff, has been recognised in the Australia Day 2022 Honours List.

“Victoria University’s alumni, friends and supporters have had a far-reaching impact across the Australian community – and in many important fields. To see these significant contributions recognised at the highest level is an inspiration for us all,” said Professor Adam Shoemaker.

We are proud to provide a snapshot of the incredible work by the following individuals who are being acknowledged for the significant contribution they have made to the community.

Names & awards

Dr Faye Bendrups OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to the performing arts, particularly through music.

Mr Anthony Boyce OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to Australian rules football.

Mr Anthony Ian Dodemaide OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to sports administration, and to cricket.

The Late Mr Roger Charles Frankel OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to public administration and international relations.

Mrs Sharon Louise Hoogland OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to the community, particularly through the church.

Dr Michael Liffman AM – Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to tertiary education, the not-for-profit sector, and visual arts.

Dr Ann Morrow OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to the community through a range of organisations, and to local government

The Honourable Bronwyn Pike AM – Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to social welfare and not-for-profit organisations, and to the Parliament of Victoria

Mr Wolfgang Schoch OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to people living with cancer, and to the community.

Ms Caroline Margaret Walker AM – Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to the community through domestic violence, sexual assault and health promotion initiatives.

The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of Australia said that this year’s recipients were a ‘reminder and reflection of the richness of spirit, selflessness and good in our community. Collectively the recipients, whose achievements span community service, science and research, industry, sport, the arts and more, represent the strength and diversity of Australia.”

VU’s Dr Ross Coller, Executive Director, Engagement & Advancement said it was “outstanding to see our alumni, colleagues past and present, and partners recognised and celebrated so publicly. Their contributions have had a profound impact in the community and they continue to make us proud.”
