A man will appear in court today charged over his alleged role in an armed affray at a train station in Sydney’s west.
Just before 5pm on Friday 12 June 2020, a male, allegedly armed with a machete, threatened commuters at Rooty Hill Railway Station before he was confronted by four males, who were armed with knives and a hammer.
Officers from Police Transport Command were notified and commenced an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, five teenagers – two aged 16 and three aged 17 – have been charged and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home in Marsden Park just after 11am yesterday (Tuesday 14 July 2020).
He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, affray, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
Police will allege in court that the man produced a hammer and threatened other commuters at Rooty Hill Railway Station.
The man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 15 July 2020).
Investigations into the alleged affray at Rooty Hill are continuing and further arrests are expected.
