Byng Street will be closed between Lords Place and Anson Street on Sunday as Council water crews upgrade the underground infrastructure in the area.
As the FutureCity upgrade of Lords Place and Byng Street continues it makes sense to take this opportunity to future proof underground infrastructure before major road upgrades take place, says Mayor Reg Kidd.

“The road will be closed from 6am to 6pm on Sunday (June 20) so our crews can upgrade a water main running from the Court House to the Live Better building,” Cr Kidd said.
“A large trench will be dug across the road so the pipes can be installed.
“We’ll be widening the roundabout on the Lords Place and Byng Street intersection to make it safer, in the coming weeks so it is good planning to schedule these upgrades now.
“The roundabout structure will be widened and the roundabout will become one lane, which is safer for drivers and pedestrians.”
Orange City Council staff have been in contact will businesses in the area and in particular officers at the police station.
Any member of the public wishing to access the station on Sunday may use from the Anson Street intersection after speaking with traffic control at the intersection.
There will be no access to Byng Street from the Lords Place intersection. People wishing to enter the underground car park should use at the Anson Street entrance. Vehicles may exit via Byng Street as usual.
There will be minimal impact to pedestrian movement in the area.
This work follows a closure of Byng Street between Lords Place and Peisley Street two weeks ago.
