Hobsons Bay UP Westside FReeZa is on the hunt for musicians, dancers and performers to feature in Fast Track, Australia’s largest non-televised singing showcase delivered by Hobsons Bay Westside FReeZA in collaboration with YOYO Music.

Joint Portfolio Holder for Social Wellbeing and Community Services Councillor Tony Briffa said that Fast Track offered performers aged 12-25 with an exciting opportunity to gain exposure, refine their performance skills and gain constructive feedback from industry professionals.

“Fast Track is a national competition which has uncovered a range of talented artists including X-Factor Isaiah Firebrace, X-Factor Grand Finalist Amalia Foy and Eurovision representatives Isabella Clarke and Bella Paige,” said Cr Briffa.

“This is the first time we have hosted this competition in Hobsons Bay and I’m really excited about the prospect of shining the spotlight on some of our talented homegrown artists.”

Joint Portfolio Holder for Social Wellbeing and Community Services Councillor Colleen Gates said that contestants would first perform at a heat event in front of a panel of judges with the top 40 invited to perform in the Grand Final.

“Contestants have the chance to win a number of exciting prizes including a Yamaha musical instrument, trophies and a recording studio opportunity as well as potential management consultation with YOYO Music Management.

“The Fast Track showcase provides an encouraging and supportive environment for backyard musicians and seasoned performers alike and I strongly encourage anyone considering a career in the music industry to get involved.”

Westside FReeZA is a skill development program with a committee of 10 local young people providing music and art based events for young people living in Hobsons Bay.

Westside FReeZa committee member Lily Riggs said that being involved in this exciting show case provides a skill development opportunity for committee members.

“As a member of FReeZA, the ability of working with Fast Track allows me to learn new skills that will aid me later on in life,” said Ms Riggs.
