NSW police appeal for information after indecent acts on Sydney trains

Police are appealing for information following a spate of indecent acts on Sydney trains.

Police Transport Command are investigating four separate incidents between November 2018 and June 2019.

On Monday 12 November 2018 about 4.10pm, on a train travelling between Redfern and Parramatta, a man sat next to a female passenger.

It is alleged the man began performing a sexual act on himself, prompting the woman to scream. She moved seats and the man left the carriage shortly after.

On Monday 19 November 2018 about 10am, a woman alighted a citybound train at Penrith Station on the Blue Mountains line.

When the train arrived at Strathfield, a man entered the carriage she was travelling in and sat next to her. About ten minutes later, it is alleged the man performed a sexual act on himself.

The woman disembarked at Central Station. The man also got off the train at the same station a short time after.

On Friday 30 November 2018 about 4.40pm, a woman boarded a train at Town Hall Station headed westbound.

When the train arrived at Central Station, a man has entered the carriage and sat next to her. A short time after it is alleged the man performed a sexual act on himself.

Just before arriving at Strathfield, the man left his seat before disembarking at the station.

On Monday 3 June 2019 about 8.55pm, a woman boarded a northbound train at Central Station. When the train arrived at Wynyard station a man embarked and asked the woman whether he could sit next to her.

The woman obliged despite numerous other seats being available on the carriage.

A short time prior to arriving at Milsons Point Station, it is alleged the man began performing a sexual act on himself.

The woman has requested the man stop and move away from her. The man complied and moved.

As the train departed Milsons Point Station, the woman approached the guard’s compartment and contacted police.

The train stopped at North Sydney Station and the man disembarked.

Police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as having a tanned complexion, aged between 20 to 30-years-old, of a thin build, approximately 165cm tall with short black hair. He has a sleeve tattoo on his right arm and another tattoo on his left forearm.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
