Pedestrian remains in critical condition after crash at Grafton, NSW

A man remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car in the state’s north last night.

Just before 8pm (Saturday 15 October 2022), emergency services responded to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in Grafton.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and were told an elderly man was crossing Oliver Street, near the intersection of Mary Street, when he was struck.

The 71-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious head injuries and taken to Grafton Base Hospital. He was later airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle – a 58-year-old woman – was uninjured and taken to Grafton Base Hospital for mandatory testing. She is assisting police with inquiries.

A crime scene was established as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
