Police update: Weapons charges in North Ipswich, QLD

Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives have this afternoon charged a man following alleged threats made to an educational facility in North Ipswich yesterday, Thursday August 25.

Investigations commenced following alleged threats being made against a staff member by a 32-year-old North Ipswich man prompting Queensland Police to execute a search warrant at a North Street residence this morning.

Detectives allegedly located a number of weapons hidden within the house, under beds and in cupboards, including three shortened rifles, one rifle, one pump action shotgun, one crossbow, one push knife, ammunition and fireworks.

The 32-year-old North Ipswich man has been charged with five counts each of unlawful possession of weapons, (two counts category A, B or M, two counts category D/H/R, and one count Category C/E), one count of authority required to possess explosives (fireworks), one count of receive tainted property (firearm/ammunition), one count of posses dangerous drugs (cannabis) and possess utensil.

He has been denied police bail and will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday August 29.
