Snowy Monaro bush fire community recovery meetings

Community meetings will be held throughout the Snowy Monaro to update bush fire affected residents, business operators and communities on the region’s recovery process.

At each meeting, updates on the recovery effort will be provided by representatives from multiple disaster recovery agencies. The representatives will be available to answer questions, assist with grant applications and help people access the recovery services available.

All Snowy Monaro residents affected by bush fires are encouraged to attend a community recovery meeting.

Community recovery meetings

• Numeralla and surrounding areas – Wednesday 29 January at 10am in the Numeralla Hall.

• Bombala, Rockton and surrounding areas – Wednesday 29 January at the Bombala Showground. 5pm – free sausage sizzle. 6pm – recovery update provided.

Meetings will be held in the coming weeks in Adaminaby, Cooma and Jindabyne. Dates and venues will be advertised on Council’s website, Facebook page.

All bush fire affected residents from Bombala, Rockton and surrounds are urged to visit the Recovery Assistance Point at the Bombala Community Centre (163 Maybe Street, Bombala).

The Recovery Assistance Point will be opened on Thursday 30 January from 10am to 4pm in the Bombala Community Centre. Throughout the day, a number of agencies will be available for one-on-one consultations to help with the recovery process. Internet, telephones and computers will be available for use.

Representatives from Snowy Monaro Regional Council, disaster welfare services, Red Cross and the Disaster Recovery Chaplain Network will be on hand to answer questions and help with grant applications.
