Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre celebrates 30 years

National Volunteer Week

(16-22 May 2022) is an annual celebration where we thank and recognise the selfless work of volunteers in our community.

Boroondara has one of the strongest rates of volunteering in Melbourne, with more than a quarter of residents generously donating their time.

Our volunteers are vital to the success of Boroondara, with many Council programs and initiatives relying on assistance from local volunteers. We currently have 250 people who volunteer with Council and generously give their time, including sharing meals with isolated residents and caring for our beautiful parklands.

We are committed to supporting volunteers through our Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC), which connects prospective volunteers with roles and training opportunities. BVRC also assists community organisations by hosting networking events, professional development workshops and promoting volunteer opportunities to the wider community.

This year, the BVRC is proud to be celebrating its 30-year anniversary. To mark the milestone occasion, we are showcasing our incredible volunteers and highlighting the diverse ways they have contributed to our community.

30 Years of Volunteers reveals why volunteers in Boroondara are motivated to give their time, what it means to be involved with their community and why they encourage others to take up a volunteer role through BVRC.
