Child critical after crash, NSW

A child is in a critical condition after a crash in Sydney’s inner-west this afternoon.

About 3.15pm (Friday 17 May 2019), emergency services were called to the intersection of Concord Road and Yaralla Street at Concord West, following reports of a crash.

A truck and a Hyundai Elantra collided, before hitting a power pole and trapping the occupants of the Hyundai.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended the scene.

The female driver and a nine-year-old boy were freed from the vehicle. Her age is not yet known.

The child was treated at the scene before being transported to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

The woman is being treated by paramedics at the scene and will be taken to hospital. She is currently in a stable condition.

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries and has been taken to Concord Hospital.

The road is currently closed with local traffic diversions in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
