Eligible groups can apply for grants from the NSW Environmental Trust’s $1 million Environmental Education program from now until 16 November.
Community groups, non-profits, and government organisations are among those that can apply for individual grants of up to either $60,000 or $250,000 for projects that develop people’s knowledge and skills to support our natural environment.
Grants up to $60,000 are for traditional education projects addressing specific, smaller-scale issues.
Grants up to $250,000 are for projects applying strategic approaches in designing education solutions to tackle larger, complex environmental issues.
Applicants’ proposals will need to address at least one of the Trust’s new immediate strategic priorities: addressing climate change impacts and/or supporting threatened species recovery.
Educational activities which help address climate change impacts on the natural environment – either mitigation or adaptation – and/or those that support threatened species recovery will be considered for funding.
This annual contestable grant program was established in 1990. It supports projects that develop, broaden and transform the community’s knowledge, skills, and intrinsic motivation to undertake sustainable behaviour and encourage participation in protecting the environment.
It aims to:
- facilitate change in the practices and behaviour of individuals and groups to improve specific or broad environmental problems
- develop and promote education projects that improve the environment and address sustainability challenges.
Applications for grants close at 3pm on 16 November.
