Somerville Library has reopened its doors to the public with a fresh new look. The library has been closed for three weeks for renovations that included new carpet, a fresh coat of paint and new layout.

The library is a community favourite and locals will love catching up with friends in the renewed space and relaxing with a good read in new comfortable seating. The Storytime area will captivate and engage our youngest visitors, while our school and university visitors will find studying a breeze in the new study zone, which will soon include a long desk.

Our dedicated library team look forward to welcoming you back!

Opening hours:

Weekdays: 10am-6pm

Saturday: 10am – 2pm

Somerville Library is closed Sundays and public holidays.

Quote attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:

“State-wide, libraries are among the most popular cultural institutions where everyone has access to free books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, Wi-Fi and more. We were able to get these renovations finished in good time so residents can have their much-loved library back sooner!

“At a time when many families are struggling with the rising cost of living, we’re proud to re-open the revitalised library space in Somerville. Libraries are one of the last places that asks nothing of you. Not only are all our library resources free, we also removed library late fines last year.

“If you’re new to the library, please come visit! It’s a great place for people of all ages. There’s Storytime for little ones, workshops and after school activities for older kids and teens and an exciting program of events for everyone else!”
