Immediate Closure of Rossys Creek Bridge, Corrowong Road

Due to the impact of constant rain over the past few weeks and the damage this has caused, Council has made the difficult decision to close Rossys Creek Bridge on Corrowong Road, west of Delegate.

With the impact of the recent weather and the forecast over the weekend predicting more heavy rain, the bridge must be closed immediately for safety reasons.

There is a significant amount of material washed out from the abutment (end of bridge), including the structural fill under the bridge deck. In addition the wingwall is failing, making it easier for material to erode, and a significant portion of pavement that has collapsed.

A detour is now in place avoiding the bridge. Vehicles should travel down Browns Camp Road which expels traffic closer to the Delegate Border. According to route planning estimates, this will extend journey times by 36 minutes.

After this weekend and once the forecast rain has stopped, Council will reassess the condition of the bridge to determine whether it can reopen, or whether structural integrity has been too heavily compromised.

Council is currently exploring repair and replacement options for Rossys Creek Bridge and will keep the community updated.
