  • The Waterwise Perth Action Plan recognised at the Australian Water Association’s (AWA) Western Australian Water Awards
  • The plan has saved Perth and Peel 12 gigalitres of water between 2019-2023
  • WA Water Awards recognise outstanding achievements and innovation of those in the water sector

The Waterwise Perth Action Plan has been recognised at the Australian Water Association’s (AWA) Western Australian Water Awards, taking out the award for Organisational Excellence.

Waterwise was recognised at an awards dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Perth on Friday night, which honoured the best leadership, innovative research, programs and infrastructure projects.

The AWA said the WA Government’s Waterwise Perth Action Plan was a successful example of whole-of-Government action to tackle the challenge of a growing city in a changing climate.

Led by Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, eight agencies worked collaboratively to deliver the plan, which has made great progress to transition Perth into a leading waterwise city by 2030.

The Waterwise Perth Action Plan 2019 and its second iteration, Kep Katitjin-Gabi Kaadadjan, has now saved Perth and Peel 12 gigalitres of water between 2019-2023 enough water to fill Optus Stadium 12 times.

The winners in a number of categories will contend for the National Awards in 2024.
